Penney has lived and worked in midcoast Maine since 2008, helping clients on both the buyers and sellers side with commercial and residential real estate transactions. She loves her work as a Realtor, and brings a high level of local knowledge and insight to every purchase and sale. As an island home owner herself, Penney is uniquely qualified to broker and advise on island-based real estate transactions. She enjoys being on the water and is always happy when water can be part of the real estate process.
Penney is an astute listener and an excellent communicator. She understands any real estate transaction, whether a first home purchase, an expansion of your business with the purchase or lease of a new commercial property, or the sale of a family home to downsize, are all significant transitions. Penney takes special care to listen from the outset and during listings and showings, putting clients at ease and taking time to understand each clients’ circumstances.

When not guiding clients through their real estate decisions, Penney is often exploring Maine, traveling with her family, or in the yoga studio.

Shelley Anderson
Shelley brings extensive experience in the housing market and a keen sense of identifying properties with untapped potential. Licensed as a broker since 1987, first in Massachusetts, and now in Maine, Shelley’s approach to selling and listing property is about building collaborative relationships with her clients. As a dedicated partner, Shelley takes on the role of detective, advocate, and problem solver, always prioritizing her clients’ best interests. She facilitates access to resources necessary for informed decision-making, bringing her comprehensive knowledge, market research and local connections to bear for her clients.
Shelley lives in Thomaston where she designs her outdoor space with perennial gardens, entertains family and friends, and embraces the Maine lifestyle along the Saint George River. When not at home with her furry companion, she can be seen driving the sunny coastal roads in one of her vintage convertibles Beetle and Benz.

Merritt Carey
Whether it’s sailing around the world, as a team member of the first (and only) all women’s America’s Cup team, riding her horse or bringing thoughtful and innovative approaches to housing design and development, Merritt brings passion, dedication and vision to all she endeavors.
An attorney by training, Merritt has years of experience in real estate – as a developer with design build experience creating custom modular homes – and as an agent. She brings custom modular design & build skills to the Midcoast Realty Group team with experience as a general contractor, she can take a project from concept and design through permitting to finish carpentry. Her training as an attorney makes her adept at negotiating and navigating the ins and outs of real estate transactions. Her thoughtful project management approach along with her attention to detail and strong communication skills ensure clients receive exceptional care throughout their real estate journey. She can manage the sale of your existing home and your new build so you have a single source for your real estate needs and one point of contact, reducing logistics and stress.
As a custom modular home designer and developer, Merritt is particularly interested in creating beautiful spaces inspired by Maine tradition. Whether you’re looking to downsize or to expand for a growing family, Merritt can manage project timelines, and all aspects of design-build. An avid equestrian, Merritt loves sailing, gardening and all things design-related. She lives in Yarmouth, Maine with her husband Chris and her two dogs, Teal and Lilly; but is often found in Tenants Harbor where her family has deep roots. In addition to her two dogs, she has three children and two horses.
